When we first discovered that TMR Mama, Briony had won a coveted place on the line up of this year’s Great British Bake Off, you can imagine our excitement. Yes, there was happy dancing in a proud Mum kind of way. We are never prouder when we see one of our own following her passion, so this really was the *ahem* icing on the cake.
Imagine my delight when I met with her on a sunny autumn morning in Bristol – following her (let’s face it untimely) departure from the semi finals of the Channel 4 show – for a run and a chat about all things running, mumhood and baking.
For a while now I’ve been worried about how little active time our kids get at school (specifically in primary schools.) I mean properly active, as in get out of breath and rosy cheeked type active. Both from my own experience with my kids’ school but also from a recent read of some Sport England research that looked at, amongst other things, the age when girls stop wanting to ‘do sport’. It’s dropped from 13 (bad enough) to 6 (horrendous). As the Mum of a 5 year old girl, I feel like we don’t have time to waste!
So I have spent the first few weeks of January 2016 pondering 2016.
(And before I start, yes it really is almost February – how the hell did that happen??)
And wondering about setting some ‘goals’ that I really stick to. Not really resolutions, more real resolve to do something differently that positively affects my wellbeing.
